He left the ABC to take a more spiritual direction with his life in the 1970s after meeting the Lord and being “born again”. At this point in his life he decided that it was mandatory that the Second Coming of Christ needed to be shown on “The Silver Screen.”
He then began theology studies at Avondale College NSW and then a teaching course at Churchlands College in Perth.
After studying both theology and teaching Robert decided that broadcasting was where he was happiest and rejoined the ABC in Sydney in 1983 after many years of being out of that field. He currently works in the radio news room as an operator.
The Touch of the Semiglors is his first work, one that he has been yearning to finish since 1983. Some of the situations depicted in this novel are based on his own experiences.
Initially a visit to a local cinema was the inspiration for this work. Robert , as he watched the opening credits of Casino Royale (the original version) wished that one day he could be in a similar position watching his own work up there on the screen. At that stage he had no idea of what to write, this evangelistic piece was to come later as his response to The Great Commission.
Robert has been married since 1978, has 4 adult children and currently lives on the Central Coast of NSW where he attends the Erina Community Baptist Church. |
